On the Flip Side… There was a Road Less Traveled… Another Way…
Mary-Margaret was raised a strict Catholic (go figure with that name!) and studied catechism and the Bible through 12 years of Catholic schooling. This was followed by additional study in world philosophies with an undeclared minor in philosophy when she graduated with a BA from UCLA. She even wrote a published pamphlet about paganism and wicca.
On March 30, 1997, on the boardwalk of Venice, California, during a particularly transitional time in her life, free speech advocate Arhata Osho gave m-m a new nickname, ‘anand sahaja.’ anand sahaja is loosely translated from sanskrit means ‘spontaneous bliss.’ Sahaja was the name of a rare woman mystic. She was instructed to live moment to moment, not to think of the past or future, and to be free and unpredictable.
anand’s life path began to follow an even deeper study of intense spiritual and philosophical scholarship and discovery. Initially, in order to speak freely and teach about her opinions on health and other potentially controversial topics, she opted to be ordained by the Universal Life Church Ministry. But… anand was most interested in obtaining actual ‘legitimate’ credentials that reflected her own personal belief path.
The Essene path is one based on traditional Jewish, early Christian, and Gnostic principles. Essenes also adhere to a blood-free, living food approach to diet as prescribed in the Old Testament. anand studied under direction of the Essene Order founded by Dr. Edmond Bordeaux and Gary White in the greater San Diego, CA area (no longer operational). She was ordained as an Essene Minister by a Bishop of the Order in 2011. She went on to receive credentials from the Body Mind Institute out of Toronto Canada for Raw Food Nutrition in 2012. And finally, in 2018 she completed additional Essene Ministerial Certification from the Nazarenes of Mount Carmel and is currently an active minister under their spiritual order. She is also a Master Tarot reader with uncanny intuitive abilities.
